GLOBAL FUND PROGRAM UNDER ZAC (PROJECT)
ZAYEDESA, a Sub-Sub recipient of the Global Fund supported project under Zanzibar AIDS Commission (ZAC) is implementing outreach interventions in targeted hotspot areas in Unguja to reach Female Sex Workers (FSWs) with HIV prevention education, HIV counseling and testing services (HTS), and referrals and linkage in integrated HIV treatment and care (CTC) that optimize health and well-being.
The outreach sessions also promote linkage to ZAPHA+ for psycho-social support for FSWs tested positive for HIV, and the correct and consistent use of condoms which are distributed as a preventive measure to HIV transmission as well as IEC/BCC materials in all project sites.
The outreach HTS sessions are conducted to minimize HIV prevalence and transmission among FSWs, and to support the Zanzibar AIDS Commission’s (ZAC) program goal and Global Fund strategy to end AIDS has a public health threat by 2030.
The Goal of the Program is to “prevent the spread of HIV infection among Zanzibaris, provide quality continuum of care to all PLHIV, and mitigate the accompanying negative psycho-social outcomes (including among key populations in Zanzibar)”
